Dark Patrick return to Oswestry

Ukrainian duo back in Oswestry by popular demand

Ukrainian music duo, Dark Patrick, make a welcome return to Oswestry’s Ironworks on July 18 following their appearance earlier this year to rave reviews.

Captivated by the Ironworks venue when they performed back in March, band members Eva and Paul were keen to make a second visit for what will be the final date of their UK 2013 summer tour. The six-week tour includes appearances at the Hidden Hill Festival in Lincs Wold, Camden Rock in London and the Llanfyllin Workhouse Festival.

Combining bandura, hurdy-gurdy, uilleann pipes, vocals, whistles, harmonicas and synthesized sounds, Dark Patrick produce an eclectic mix of styles that is as varied as the list of instruments that they play.

Facebook comments after Dark Patrick’s March gig included: “These two are extraordinary, making sounds I've never heard before. If you missed this gig, catch the very next one you can.”
Another said: “Very enjoyable, ethnic, ethereal, haunting, unlike any other music.”

Oswestry’s Neil Phillips and world music/folk trio, Les Glaneurs, will be in support.

Dark Patrick have had extensive airplay on BBC Radio 6, Radio 3 and Radio Shropshire, and were recently featured as a fresh fave in BBC DJ Tom Robinson’s music blog.

Tickets are available from Outwhere Records (Beatrice Street, Oswestry) and the Ironworks (Church Street). Entry on the door is £7. More information at www.the-ironworks.co.uk and www.darkpatrick.com
